Lovely and unusual vintage compact measuring 2-1/4" wide. Featuring a gold tone mesh chain link expandable base, top opens with a click latch to reveal a small mirror and area for powder - there is no puff. Designed to expand depending on the amount of powder within the compact, it has a enamel guilloche disk mounted on top decorated with a criss-cross design and hand painted single rose in pink and yellow - just lovely. In nice vintage condition - mirror has no damage, latch works great and compact closes securely - no loss or separation to the links -- enamel disk has just the slightest amount of contact rubbing that can be seen at an angle in the light - probably from spending most of its life in a purse side pocket - does not detract in the least and I mention for accuracy only. This is just a wonderful little compact - style and shape are very unusual. Think it would be a charming addition to any collection! ID=powder52
