Northwood
Intaglio Ivory Custard Glass Individual Berry
Bowl
With Green & Gold Trim circa 1899.
In
1897, the Harry Northwood Glass Company of
Indiana, Pennsylvania (which later moved to
Wheeling, West Virginia) introduced ivory
custard glass with its hugely successful Louis
XV pattern, and followed through in 1899 with
swift introductions of the now-classic Intaglio,
Geneva, Inverted Fan & Feather, and Pagoda
patterns in custard glass (from Harry Northwood:
The Wheeling Years 1901-1925, Antique Publications:
Marietta, OH, 1991, p. 132).
This
is a wonderful example of the Northwood Intaglio
Green & Gold berry bowl. The berry bowl,
often called a "sauce bowl" is approximately
3" high x 4.5" wide. ID=ANTQ3
